One of my favorite projects was a new 25,000 SF sky lodge at the Copper Mountain Sky Resort in Colorado. I was brought in as a technical consultant architect on a temporary basis by my client, Aerotek to service their client, BSA Architects of San Francisco, with my scope of work being limited to providing constructability & QA reviews as well as unique and complex architectural detailing for a building to be constructed in an extremely harsh environment at 11,200-feet above sea level. At issue, primarily, were the effects of freezing, which we resolved by running heating elements throughout the building’s facade, patios, and downspouts. The Architect of Record was BSA Architects.
